What should I do if I encounter a breakdown?

In the unfortunate event of a mechanical problem in motorsport, the first thing a driver needs to do is to carefully examine and assess the condition of the car. If the inspection confirms that the problem cannot be repaired independently by the driver's own efforts, then the next course of action will be determined by the current condition of the car.

In some cases, if the car's spark plugs are severely damaged or some other major failure problem is encountered, these failures may result in the car not being able to maintain a normal speed, or there may even be an emergency situation where the car stalls. In such a situation, the driver must make a quick judgment call as to whether the car should be parked on the track or whether he should attempt to return to the Pit for emergency repairs, depending on the exact location.

When dealing with these emergencies, drivers are asked to keep the following important safety guidelines in mind:

First, drivers should try to avoid stopping their cars at the corners of the track or on top of the main line of racing, as these locations may pose a hazard to other cars and increase the risk of an accident.

Secondly, drivers should not be in a hurry before deciding to leave their cars. Always make sure that all cars coming from behind have passed safely to avoid creating new hazards or accidents.

Third, once safely out of the car, the driver should act quickly to push the car off the track to minimize disruption to the race and the threat to the safety of other drivers. Finally, after completing the above steps, drivers should follow the instructions of the field crew and wait at the nearest marshal's point to receive further instructions and assistance.
